Yes, we’re still going! This time it’s the turn of Jon Walker, an Active-PCB newbie who joined the team earlier this year. Let’s see what Jon has to say…

Name: Jon Walker
Job Title: Business Development Executive
Joined Active-PCB Solutions: 2025
- What inspired you to work in the PCB/electronics industry (or – how did you end up working here?!)?
My career began in IoT/Telecoms which was mostly inspired by my dad as he had always worked within this industry and was always familiar with the technology/terminology. From there, by chance I was recruited for a role within the Wireless/Embedded industry and this opened the door to all sorts of learning and understanding not only about RF, but also the electronics industry itself. The Business Development role at Active presented itself to me and I jumped at the opportunity as this was another chance to build on my experience within electronics whilst taking on an entirely new challenge! - In fewer than 100 words, what does a typical workday at Active-PCB Solutions look like for you?
As I’m quite new in the role, every day seems to be wildly different to each other – I’ve spent a lot of time on the production floor learning about what sets Active-PCB apart from our competitors and sitting with the Account Management team to understand the value they bring to our customers. The focus now is to conduct some market research and start building relationships with potential customers to show them exactly what Active-PCB are capable of! - What do you enjoy most about working with the team at Active-PCB Solutions?
Everyone at Active-PCB is so friendly and approachable, which is always a bonus when working closely with people. There’s a great culture of positivity and ambition – we’re on the precipice of the company moving in a great direction towards growth, and I’m excited to be here for it! - Imagine it’s the end of a Friday workday – what does your ideal evening look like?
Probably a nice long walk in the sunset with my girlfriend (bring on those longer evenings!) and then either grab a takeaway (Chinese) or try to cook something new that we haven’t cooked before, followed by a glass of wine (or two) whilst watching a film. - What’s a hobby or activity you’ve recently gotten into, or one which you would love to try?
It’s something that I’ve only ever done a couple of times, but I’d love to get into rock climbing/bouldering! I go to the gym fairly regularly, so in my mind this is a similar activity but with an added level of “danger” to mix things up. There’s a couple of centres here in Reading, so I’ve really got no excuse now I’ve said it… - If you could wake up tomorrow being an expert at something or having a brand new skill, what would it be and why?
I can play a few instruments (saxophone, guitar) but what has always stumped me is playing the piano! My hands cannot seem to work independently to one another and it would be great to play something with a greater complexity than Chopsticks. And why? To show off, of course. - What is the last series you binged on Netflix/Prime/etc (and would you recommend it?)
I’m currently watching Severance which I am highly enjoying! It’s not quite “binging” per se, as I’m having to wait each week for a new episode… I just find the whole concept so gripping and fascinating – it’s a show that leaves you with more questions than answers. In terms of actual binging, recently I’ve been watching the Vampire Diaries… Would I recommend it? No comment. - You have two weeks off and an unlimited budget; where would you visit?
I’m trying to think of a clever answer to this, along the lines of stashing this unlimited budget away for myself (think high-yield savings, live off the interest etc.) but if I must play by the rules, I’d love to go somewhere far away like New Zealand to take in all the stunning scenery and then hop over to Japan as that has always been a bucket-list item for me! - What’s your go-to comfort food?
Fajitas. Next Question. - According to an advert I saw on LinkedIn, animals are excellent for engagement, so please show off your pet (if you have one)!
This is Patches, she is 100% deaf so she’ll never respond to your call and she sleeps a lot and she often gets in the way but this is okay because she is perfect. - The same advert told me that humour was also good for engagement. Can you tell us a joke?
I bought the world’s worst thesaurus yesterday. Not only is it terrible, it’s terrible. - Luke set the following question for you: What’s your favourite film?
There are just so many films out there that it’s hard to choose just one as a favourite! A film that I watched in the past year or so that really stood out to me was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – just from a creative and visual perspective I found the whole concept so different and unique. - And finally! Can you think of a question to ask the next person on ‘Meet The Team’?
What is the best album you’ve ever listened to?
