From November 12 to 15, a number of key staff from Active-PCB Solutions flew over to Munich where they joined industry leaders at Electronica 2024, the world’s premier electronics trade fair, which this year celebrated its 60th anniversary.
It was Active-PCB’s first international trade exhibition and a great time was had over four days at the exhibition. We were happy to see old clients as well as new faces, to show off everything that Active-PCB has to offer in the PCB assembly and electronics manufacturing industry.
Electronica 2024: A World-Class Platform for Innovation
Electronica 2024 was the biggest event so far. With a huge 192,000m² of exhibition space across 18 halls, it played host to 3,480 exhibitors from 59 countries – and three quarters had travelled internationally to attend.
Even more impressively, this year’s Electronica drew 80,000 visitors from 100 countries, including top markets such as Italy, China, and the USA.
The event showcased how digital technologies, including those pivotal to the “All Electric Society,” are key to driving carbon neutrality.
Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München, summarised the significance of the event, stating:
“For 60 years, electronica has been the central meeting place for the global electronics industry. This year’s trade fair here in Munich, a leading technology hub, was once again an impressive demonstration of the industry’s innovative strength. In the halls, visitors were able to see firsthand how future technologies are already taking shape—from intelligent energy solutions to smart mobility—and the vital role the electronics industry plays in making this happen.”
Active-PCB’s Highlights from the Event
Engaging with a Global Audience
Our booth was a focal point for visitors keen to explore our innovative PCB solutions. We were thrilled to engage with professionals and clients – both familiar faces and new – from diverse industries, including automotive, industrial automation, and medical device sectors. We took with us some fun branded freebies which went down a storm because we arrived back empty handed!
Exploring Key Themes at Electronica
Electronica 2024 addressed some of the most pressing topics for the industry:
- Sustainability: Presentations on the circular economy and green electronics resonated deeply with our commitment to environmentally conscious manufacturing.
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Insights into AI-driven advancements reinforced our focus on integrating smarter solutions into PCB design.
- Future Mobility: The Electronica Automotive Conference provided actionable insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the mobility sector.
In addition, SEMICON Europa, co-located with the event, offered complementary expertise in semiconductor manufacturing.
A Vibrant Atmosphere Despite Global Challenges
As noted by Exhibition Director Katja Stolle:
“Electronica 2024 was more international than ever…you could once again feel the unmistakable electronica spirit.”
The extensive supporting program was a major highlight. From start-ups pitching innovations at the Fast Forward platform to the Women in Tech sessions and Young Talents Day, the fair fostered inspiration across all levels of experience.
Looking Ahead
Our time at Electronica 2024 underscored our position as a leader in PCB innovation and reaffirmed our commitment to driving sustainable growth in electronics. We return energised (albeit with aching feet!) and full of new ideas.
We are grateful to everyone who visited Active-PCB’s stand at the event and our team are are already looking forward to Electronica 2026, scheduled for November 10 – 13!
